The Kane County Democratic Party welcomes anyone seeking respectful dialogue, practical solutions, and community-driven progress. We believe in fairness, autonomy, and the value of each individual voice. Our “big tent” invites moderates, independents, conservatives, and progressives alike to build a brighter future together. We hold the points in our platform dear to our hearts and also strive to welcome and consider new ideas and new ways to solve the issues of our time.
Economic Security
We support small businesses, fair wages, keeping jobs here at home, and the benefits of buying local to build a strong regional economy. We believe that everyone deserves meaningful work that provides financial security and stability. We also encourage economic growth that prioritizes affordability, career training, and smart infrastructure investments to benefit all residents of Kane County. We believe that when individuals feel secure economically, they can focus on other issues that matter, including building a brighter future for themselves and others.
Fairness & Freedom
Everyone deserves respect and dignity, regardless of background or beliefs. We uphold constitutional freedoms, equal opportunities, and peace and justice for all. Our goals are to build safe, inclusive communities where everyone is free to peacefully voice their opinions and concerns without being harmed or mistreated by our government.
Healthcare for All
We believe that access to healthcare is a basic human right and that women’s and reproductive healthcare is essential. We advocate for all communities and support their right to make choices about their bodies and overall health. We also advocate for the use of science in healthcare and medicine, while striving for practical solutions that reduce costs and preserve privacy.
Public Lands
Our public lands are vital to our county’s heritage and economy. We support balanced, locally-informed, and scientifically driven decisions that protect the unique and awe- inspiring lands surrounding our communities. We support responsible recreation, and other land uses that preserve our water and energy resources through practical conservation. We support staffing and funding of all of our public lands and their employees with an eye toward preservation for future generations.
Climate Change
We recognize that our climate is in peril due to the overuse of fossil fuels and other human activities. Our climate locally has and will continue to become hotter, drier and more unpredictable. Through legislative means and a massive shift in overall outlook, vast changes must be made at the national level. At a local level, we support any efforts to reduce emissions, preserve water, and protect our communities against the rapid changes currently happening.
Fiscal Responsibility & Education Opportunity
Responsible budgeting and fair taxation ensure community resources are wisely invested. We support efficient spending that avoids unnecessary burdens on families. We also recognize our public employees and elected officials as essential members of our community. We prioritize children and well-funded public schools, fair pay for teachers and educators, and accessible continuing education and trade school opportunities for all ages. Every resident should have opportunities to thrive and gain new skills to adapt to a changing economic environment. Our children and educators should always feel safe and supported while learning and teaching. We support legislation that keeps our schools protected and free from the misuse of guns, as well as other types of violence.
Immigrants & Immigration
We advocate for compassionate immigration policies that honor dignity, reward hard work, respect laws, and keep families together. We understand that immigrants help our county and communities thrive in countless ways, and we celebrate cultural differences that unite our humanity.
Leading by Example & “Our Big Tent”
Democracy is constantly under threat, we must stand as a bulwark and a beacon of hope by treating all people with dignity and supporting related local groups that unite neighbors, friends, and families across the political spectrum. Together, we’ll build an inclusive and prosperous community grounded in cooperation, common sense, and respect for one another.
